Ireland and India share many obvious, and not so obvious, folkloric and historical links, from the origins of the Irish and Indian fiddle, to our shared colonial past. Mehrangarh meaning ‘fort of the sun’, originally home to the Rajput clan of Rathores (and venue to the Rajasthan International Folk Festival), stands a hundred feet in splendour on a perpendicular cliff, four hundred feet above the sky line of Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Concert followed by The Music & Culture Of Rajasthan, a presentation by Divya Bhatia, Director of Jodhpur Rajasthan International Folk Festival at 4pm.

Support comes from emerging blues guitarist Jack McHale’s trio, featuring John Leighton and Mark O’Doherty.

Wicked King Enda has kidnapped Anna Livia the Water Maiden and all the water in the village well has dried up.

It’s a race against time for our unlikely coalition of heroes – Robin B’Stard (Robin Hood’s illegitimate, slightly less well-known half brother), Will Scarletforya, Scarecrow Mick and Friar Tourettes, with some help from Turfcutter Ming and the ancient wizard Michael D.

For the second instalment of Citadels of The Sun, landscape theatre company LUXE celebrate connecting Donegal and Rajasthan – a world apart, yet bound by symbolic significance – with an illuminated musical adventure on Letterkenny’s Main Street.The project is a new creative collaboration between Earagail Arts Festival and Jodhpur Rajasthan International Folk Festival sharing common themes and stories that unite Irish and Indian culture through music, dance and spectacle.
