Teanga Rúnda na gCorr: The Secret Language of Cranes

Event Description

Inspired by the recently published ‘Corr Scéal – Crane Notions’ by Lorcán Ó Tuathail, An Gailearaí in collaboration with poet Cathal Ó Searcaigh present Teanga Rúnda na gCorr: The Secret Language of Cranes. This newly commissioned installation includes the haunting Scots Gaelic poem ‘A Chorra-Ghridheach – The Heron’ by renowned Scottish poet Sorley MacLean, juxtaposed with newly commissioned poems by Cathal Ó Searcaigh. Teanga Rúnda na gCorr will take the audience on a journey through MacLean’s and Ó Searcaigh’s poetry and some of the ideas explored in Ó Tuathail’s book – an ethereal place of ‘other’, winding and weaving amongst the sounds, the words and imagery in to the ambience of a space evoked.

Corr Scéal Talk
Lorcán Ó Tuathail discusses ideas presented in his book ‘Corr Scéal’ at An Gailearaí on Wednesday 12th July at 7pm.

Event Description

Is comhshaothar é Teanga Rúnda na gCorr: The Secret Language of Cranes idir an Gailearaí agus an file Cathal Ó Searcaigh a raibh ‘Corr Scéal – Crane Notions’, foilseachán úrnua de chuid Lorcáin Uí Thuathail, mar inspioráid aige. Ar na nithe atá i gceist sa taispeántán nua-choimisiúnaithe seo tá an dán draíochtúil Gàidhlig de chuid an fhile Somhairle MacGill-Eain, ‘A Chorra-Ghridheach – The Heron’, le cois dánta nua ó Chathal Ó Searcaigh. Is turas é Teanga Rúnda na gCorr trí fhilíocht MhicGill-Eain agus Uí Shearcaigh agus trí chuid de na smaointe a bhfuil cíoradh déanta orthu i leabhar Uí Thuathail – áit neamhshaolta an ‘eile’, lúbadh agus casadh i measc na bhfuaimeanna, na bhfocal agus na n-íomhánna, chun íomhá de spás faoi leith a mhúscailt.
