Brian Keenan was born in Belfast in 1950. His books include An Evil Cradling, (Hutchinson, 1992), the superbly written account of his experiences of being held hostage for four and a half years in the Lebanon.
Born in Dublin in 1930, Jennifer Johnston is one of Ireland’s finest living writers whose many novels spanning over 3 decades include The Captains and the Kings (1972) and Foolish Mortals (2007). She has received many awards, including the Robert Pitman Award; the Yorkshire Post Award, the 1979 Whitbread Award and Shadows on our Skin was shortlisted for the Booker Prize.
