Listeners to yesterday morning’s ‘Sunday with Miriam’ programme on RTE Radio 1 were treated to a tantalising preview of Earagail Arts Festival’s forthcoming Donegal International Folk and Roots Festival ( Sunday – Monday, July 10-13 ) when Miriam O’Callaghan and her team took up residence at the famed  Leo’s Tavern in Crolly. All of the artists featured on this excellent radio programme will also perform in next month’s inaugural Donegal International Folk and Roots Festival event in Letterkenny.

The hugley popular radio and television presenter enjoyed lively and highly entertaining, music, song and chat with Máire Ní Bhraonain, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Ciarán ó Maonaigh and Clann Mhic Ruairí – Na Rosainn brothers Aodh, Dónal, Seán ,Tony Mac Ruairí and his daughter Megan.

The programme also focused on the phenomenal success of Leo’s Tavern’s ‘Club Beo’ initiative in providing an invaluable monthly platform for emerging young talent in the Donegal Gaeltach area, a point which was aptly illustrated  in a  wonderful performance by Aisling Jarvis, Eve Belle and Megan Nic Ruairí of a new song, Thoughts, from Aisling Jarvis’ recently released debut CD, A Handful of Bad Ideas.

You can listen to a podcast of ‘Sunday with Miriam’, live at Leo’s Tavern, now at www.rte.ie/radio1/sunday-with-miriam.
