Leila Jane & Simon Mc Cafferty.

Friday 20th March 2015

Earagail Arts Festival are excited to announce details of the third concert in the now popular music series, hosted by Kinnegar Brewing at the Tap Room, Rathmullan House Hotel, Friday 20th March.

Hot on the heels of the superb Christmas Concert, Kinnegar Brewing in partnership with the Earagail Arts Festival are delighted to announce an intimate performance featuring blues and folk singer, Leila Jane and guitarist extraordinaire, Simon Mc Cafferty.

Leila Jane embraces the beautiful sincerity of the delta blues and American folk music in her performances. She sings songs of her own creation and those that have inspired her along the way. After a performance at the Cambridge Folk festival in 2013 her sound was described as ‘somewhere between Janis Joplin and Sandy Denny’. Born in London, she came home to Donegal at the age of 6. She began singing and writing songs at the age of 15 and for the last 5 years has been gigging across the UK and Ireland. She has returned home to Donegal again after spending the last two years in Northampton. In 2014 she recorded a 6 track EP by the name of ‘Twisted Heart’. Recorded with a live band in a little studio in Northamptonshire, its sound is a dreamy, often haunting blend of blues, folk and rock and roll.

Drumkeen born guitarist, Simon Mc Cafferty, awakens the senses with acoustic notes of Blues, Folk, Jazz and Classical music. Playing the guitar at the early age of 15, he began drawing influences from Jimi Hendrix, but in the last few years has became more influenced by Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel & Django Reinhardt. Using Travis picking style of Chet and Tommy Simon combined it with “Drifting” as used by Eric Roche and Thomas Leeb. This Drifting style allows him to use the guitar as a percussive instrument played over his guitar melodies. Currently working on his second EP, Simon is a rising musician in the Irish Music scene.

The Concert starts at 9pm, with the Tap Room serving Farmhouse Beers & Wood Fired Pizzas from 5pm. Admission is €5 and tickets can be purchased at kinnegarbrewing.ie/events.
